Rep. Fairbairn to chair newly formed Michigan Trails Caucus
RELEASE|October 26, 2026

State Representative Parker Fairbairn today announced he will serve as chairman of the newly formed Michigan Legislative Trails Caucus, a bipartisan, bicameral group of legislators committed to promoting, protecting, and enhancing Michigan’s extensive trail system.

“Michigan is home to some of the most amazing trails in the country, and I’m pleased to be spearheading an effort to ensure that our residents, communities, and visitors will be able to continue to enjoy them for years to come,” said Fairbairn, R-Harbor Springs. “From hiking and biking, skiing and snow shoeing, to snowmobiling and ORV’ing, and other outdoor pursuits, our trails offer something for everyone. The Trails Caucus will work to develop and advance policies that enhance our trails, support the communities that depend on them, and ensure Michigan remains a premier destination for outdoor recreation across both peninsulas.”

In the weeks since Fairbairn began reaching out to other legislators, the Michigan Legislative Trails Caucus has grown to nearly two dozen members of the Michigan House and Senate and has already begun planning informational events to garner additional participation and support from other colleagues.

Fairbairn will serve as chairman, alongside vice chairs Rep. Will Snyder (D-Muskegon), Rep. Donni Steele (R-Orion Twp), Sen. Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton) and Sen. John Cherry (D-Flint).
